Data Science and Causal Inference
We all know that correlation does not imply causation. But what if you need to know how much X causes Y, for example:
How much will raising prices change quantity sold and revenue?
How much should our company spend on advertising?
Should we offer signing bonuses in addition to higher salaries to hit recruiting goals?
I would love to use my causal inference expertise to help you answer these questions and more. Connect with me, and let's chat through approaches that will allow you to know why something happens.
Other consulting services I offer include:
Designing product and policy rollouts to allow organizations to understand causal relationships while adhering to the highest ethical standards
Building dashboards (Looker, Tableau) that track outcomes in real time and alert concerning trends
Setting up cloud data infrastructure and connecting data pipelines
Predicting customer behaviors and forecasting business KPIs using machine learning and other statistical tools
Before becoming a data science consultant, I served as the research lead at Recidiviz uncovering how technology can improve outcomes for justice-involved individuals. Before joining Recidiviz, I completed my PhD in Economics at UC San Diego where I studied how learning technologies impact exam performance and how taxes and stimulus payments affect food choice. Below are links to my papers and replication code repositories.
Real cost of travel
However, exchange rates often move with local inflation, making it challenging to tell how much real exchange rates have changed for visitors of foreign countries. In this notebook, I use publicly available data to generate a history of real cost of living in one's home currency for nearly every country in the world.
Can you guess the most and least affordable countries to travel to?

Sports scenes are constantly changing, and photographers have mere milliseconds to capture the perfect moment. The lack of control over lighting, positioning, and timing forces one to neglect perfection and shoot in the moment - the most thrilling way to spectate an event!
Nature and outdoor portraits
While sports are the most fun to capture, nature is the most beautiful. It's a blessing to live in Southern California where beaches, mountains, cliffs, sunsets, and wildlife are all readily accessible. The bioluminesent red tide in San Diego made for some fun nighttime photography, too.
